“Disappointing” said Libertarian candidate for Auditor Dan Fishman, upon reading a story in the Boston Globe by Matt Stout that three employees of State Auditor Suzanne Bump helped her in filing signatures for her reelection campaign while on the clock for the people of the Commonwealth.
“Collecting signatures and turning them in is a heavy burden, as evidenced by the fact that currently there is no Republican candidate on the ballot” Fishman commented. “We expended a great deal of effort and money to qualify for the race, all of which had to be meticulously documented with the Office of Campaign and Public Finance. It’s completely inappropriate for a Government official to have employees doing campaign work on the taxpayers dime. It’s especially inappropriate when that official is the State Auditor.
“Sadly this is par for the course in a partisan Auditor’s office that, rather than working to oversee the spending of the people’s money, is using the power of the office as a political weapon for her party. Electing me as Auditor will change that. As our campaign slogan says: "The referee shouldn't be wearing a team jersey."
